How Important Is Your Health To You?

But even more importantly…what are you willing to DO to improve and/or preserve it?

Sometimes it can be very difficult to get on track to being healthier.  This could be due to a number of factors such as:

  • A dislike for fruits and vegetables or practically anything healthy
  • Strong, consistent cravings that overpower the desire for better eating habits (which is typically a sign of something deeper)
  • A lack of or limited supply of quality, fresh foods
  • Poor habits formed that are difficult to break
  • And more

It would be very easy for someone like myself who ENJOYS eating fresh fruits, vegetables and whole foods to tell someone who does not to basically “just do it”.  But many people have to be met where they are.

Here are a few tips on getting on the road to being healthier…

…which in most cases, leads to one beginning to actually crave better foods and to make a conscious decision to actually eat better:

1. A good cleansing/detoxing

As you may or may not have discovered, the reason I named this site “Get Healthy Get Clean Get Lean” is because they all work hand-in-hand.  So for many, the first step towards better health is to actually REMOVE the bad things from the body such as toxins and stored, accumulated waste, through gently cleansing the colon (and NO I do not mean using laxatives) and the inside of your body in the places where toxins are stored.  I’ve found that oftentimes, when we begin to cleanse from the inside, we begin to take caution as to what we put in our bodies.  We feel so good and so light that we don’t want to do anything to make that feeling go away.

Think about when you have just cleaned a particular part of your home and I mean REALLY cleaned it.  You are not going to turn right around and immediately mess/dirty it back up, right?  And if anyone comes along and leaves something out of place or spills something, you may get really irrate because of all the hard work you just did to clean it up!

So it often is when we do a good, thorough internal cleansing.  Therefore, this is definitely a step towards developing healthier eating habits.

 2. A good vitamin supplement

Remember the reasons I stated above that some people find it challenging to begin to change their habits to become healthier although they may have a desire (or need) to do so?  Well, for any one of those reasons, it’s important to get the nutrition SOME kind of way and what better way than through vitamin supplementation…at least to begin with.  But don’t get me wrong…I’m not talking about taking a “Once-A-Day” (I know that’s not what it’s called, but just to keep my rear safe) or similar vitamins – I’m talking about a GOOD, quality vitamin supplement , preferably in liquid form that your body can actually absorb, assimilate and USE.

Sometimes (in many cases, actually) a lack of nutrients is a major cause in craving junk foods…so getting the bad stuff out and putting good stuff in will definitely help you get on the road to eating better!

 3. Green smoothies

Now you may be saying (or thinking), “If I don’t like fruits and/or veggies, then WHY would you think I’d like a GREEN smoothie?!“  and I totally understand that frame of thinking.  But most people, even those who don’t/won’t eat fruit will at least drink a smoothie IF it tastes good.  And while you may be thinking that a smoothie with greens in it can’t POSSIBLY taste good, think again and there are ways to kinda “ease” your way into them that I discuss in this article:  http://gethealthycleanandlean.info/the-buzz-on-green-smoothies

 4. Do what you gotta do to get the good stuff in!

For example, if you don’t like salads unless they have a lot of dressing on them or are full of meat and cheese…do what you gotta do and get it in!  But don’t rely on that alone, couple it with one of the previous things I mentioned such as the liquid vitamin supplement and/or the cleansing and/or the green smoothies.  If you find you’ll only eat lettuce if it’s on a sandwich or burger, then have your sandwich or burger but pile MORE of the lettuce and tomatoes on it…again, incorporating one of the aforementioned tips.

So there you have it! Small, baby steps to getting on a healthier path…amongst other things, of course. Be sure that you subscribe to this blog so you can get updates when new tips and advice are posted here!
