If you are utilizing meal replacement shakes as part of your weight loss or overall health routine, it can get kinda boring having them the same ole way all the time ESPECIALLY if doing two-a-day! So here are a few recipes to give you a little variety:
(Disclaimer: I used a particular brand of meal replacement shakes called Pure Trim® Shakes when I created the following recipes. I’m sure they may be able to work with other brands, but I make NO promises nor guarantees of how well each recipe will work with other shake brands!)
Peanut Butter Cookie Shake
By Cherie King
This shake is a BIG hit in my household and it’s very satisfying on many levels!
1 single serving of vanilla shake mix
1/4 c. almonds (optional)
1/2 banana
1-2 TBS. ‘natural’ peanut butter (I prefer crunchy, but any variety will do)
10-12 oz. water
dash or two of sea salt
ice
Blend all ingredients until well blended. If a colder shake is desired, blend in some ice.
Caramel Apple Shake
By Cherie King
I love this recipe and like to pulse-blend an additional bit of apples and dates and chew on them as I’m drinking my shake for a little more of the “real deal”!
1 single serving of vanilla shake mix
4-6 Medjool dates (pitted)
1 Granny Smith apple cut and seeded (any will do, but Granny Smiths are the best in my opinion)
10-12 oz. water or almond milk (you can also use half water/half almond milk)
dash or two of sea salt
1/4 tsp. vanilla (optional, but I like the EXTRA vanilla flavor)
Blend the dates with about half of the liquid until well blended. Add the remaining ingredients and blend until smooth. Add ice if desired although, I prefer mine more on the room temperature side!
Orange-Cream Shake
By Cherie King
If you loved those orange-cream frozen treats from the ice cream truck, you’ll love this shake!
1 serving of vanilla shake mix
1 whole small orange or half of a large orange, peeled. Can substitute with 6-8 oz. of orange juice although fresh orange is always the better choice!
1/2 banana (fresh or frozen)
4-6 oz. water
Ice
Blend everything except ice until smooth. Add ice and blend a few more seconds until frosty-creamy!
If you’re craving the famous peanut butter-chocolate candy bar, try this instead and watch that craving go straight out the window!
1 serving of chocolate shake mix
10-12 oz. water or almond milk (or you can use half water/half almond milk)
1 TBS. of peanut butter (add more if you like…my son likes about DOUBLE that amount!)
1/2 banana (fresh or frozen) optional, but I use it…doesn’t hurt the flavor one bit!
dash or two of sea salt
Ice (optional)
Blend everything except the ice until smooth and creamy. Add ice and blend until desired consistency.
1 serving of vanilla shake mix
1 apple, cut and seeded
1/4 c. almonds
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
dash or two of sea salt
10-12 oz. of water
Ice (optional)
Blend everything except the ice until smooth and creamy. Add ice and blend until desired consistency.
1/4 cup chopped pineapple
Blend water and shake mix until smooth. Add remaining ingredients and blend again until smooth and creamy.
